Nando’s is spicing up its at home product portfolio with the launch of the new coat ‘n cook range.
The three new ambient sauces that make up the range aim to satisfy the increasing demand for quick and easy weekday meals.
Experts at Nando’s have developed the only product on the market in a pouch that is dedicated solely to chicken, giving Nando’s strong cut through in this £35.9million category.
Licensed by food specialist All About Food, marketing director Declan Lockett said:
“Research shows us that most mid-week meals are centred around the humble chicken and are rustled up by consumers who are time-poor or not too confident in the kitchen.
“These single-use sauces spread the Nando’s PERi-PERi love with minimal effort, no cooking skills are required, just a passion for PERi-PERi.
“The easy-to-use pouch, which is so successful in oriental cooking, is familiar to the consumer and synonymous with quick, but tasty meals, so we’re confident that the new range will be a storming success.”
The new coat ‘n cook range consists of three flavours; Lemon and Herb, Sundried Tomato and Basil, and Original Hot.
Declan Lockett added: “Moving into this market is a great opportunity for the Nando’s brand, with over 90 per cent of participants in research groups definitely or probably likely to purchase the product.
“This same research also showed that just under half of participants would expect to see the Nando’s coat ‘n cook concept merchandised in the chilled fixture, next to the fresh chicken.
“This presents an even bigger opportunity for retailers and we’ll be working with them to try and bring this partnership to life in the near future.”
The sauces are available in 120g pouches, meaning they’re portioned for two adults, both reducing waste and giving the product versatility for smaller and less formal meal occasions.
The coat ‘n cook pouch gives consumers a meal in two steps; coat the chicken, then cook in the oven.
